KMAI worked with acclaimed Malaysian architectural firm T.R. Hamzah & Yeang in the successful submission of a proposal for the interior fit up of the seventeenth floor of the Menera Tan & Tan office tower in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The space comprises approximately 1,830 sq.m., and accommodates a staff of 40 people. Our basic objective was to design a functional, high quality architectural interior employing ecological principles and representing the best of Canadian and Malaysian design, materials, equipment, and furnishings. Major consideration was given to the ecological environment which included not only the concept of energy efficiency and the use of eco-friendly materials, but also the design of a culturally rich environment which enhances the health and quality of life of its occupants. Our design philosophy was to create an excellent interior that is as refreshing as the exterior by employing the use of welcoming materials, high quality lighting and well proportioned spaces forming a bright invigorating interior environment with positive colours. Other concepts included the creation of free flowing continuous ‘green’ spaces, providing opportunities for views outside wherever possible, and the highly developed use of natural lighting in interior spaces. |
