REGENT PARK DAYCARE

This LEED Gold two-storey daycare for 64 children is located within a ten-storey residential development. This daycare is for both the residents of the building and the greater community of Regent Park.

The ground floor is for infants and toddlers; the second floor is for the older preschoolers. The interior corridors are articulated as internal streets. Entries into individual playrooms are brightly coloured ‘front doors’ to ensure children can easily identify their ‘home away from home’.

Equally important is the relationship between interiors and exteriors. All playrooms overlook the outdoor playspace. All playrooms have well above the required 20% glazed area to floor area. A thorough consulation process with Children’s Services ensured that the specifics of children’s needs were accurately met.
