UNIVERSITY OF WATERLOO HEALTH SERVICES BUILDING

The project involves the renovation of the University of Waterloo Health Services Building (HSB) and a two-storey 20,000 sq. ft. addition with new car and bus drop-off. The HSB will serve as a medical and mental health clinic serving the student population and their immediate families. When complete, it will be a state of the art medical facility consisting of examination rooms, minor procedure room, blood lab, medical offices conducive to team collaboration, work spaces, counseling offices, and a full mental health department.

The building addition conveys a healthy image with plenty of natural light for all users and visitors to the clinic with transparencies and views of the surrounding area. The building addition is sited to take advantage of the view of the forest to the East which is part of the Grand River Conservation Area and a view of the university campus over the Grand River. A green roof is also incorporated into the design in front of the metal health department on the second floor to contribute to the overall healthy environment.
