30 WELLINGTON STREET EAST
This project presented a unique challenge which involved reducing a standard 1970s era condominium interior to almost zero, modernizing and refitting it in the most minimalist manner to suit the client’s needs for open space with maximum light in and views out.
Technically, the design sought to accommodate services and utilities, passing vertically through the condominium, without disrupting spatial quality. Where such vertical columns of services occurred in an open space, they were elevated to artwork status. Colour was carefully studied and applied to make best use of the East light and also to suit the client’s art collection. The materials palette included found concrete, prefinished maple hardwood flooring, frameless sandblasted glass, and mosaic tile. Kitchen cabinets were Scavolini with a lacquered finish.
