FONTBONNE PLACE WOMEN'S RESIDENCE

Developed by the Sisters of St. Joseph to provide alternative housing to single women between the ages of 40 and 60 who are currently homeless, the project involves the conversion and adaptation of a former 1960s supermarket building.

The new uses comprise a Community Center and Dental Clinic within the existing building shell and the addition of two new floors to accommodate 18 one bedroom apartments. The housing is designed to be permanent long term housing not transitional or hostel accommodation.

The redesigned building presents a new brick and glass face to the street in common with its neighbors and the extensive front yard will be newly landscaped to provide enhanced amenity value to both residents and community.
