ST. MARY’S SENIORS RESIDENCE

A 100 unit home for active seniors sponsored by Saint Mary’s church community in Brampton, Ontario set on a beautiful site provided by the church community adjacent to a public park. The design organizes the home so that its two, main facades, its entrance and all community rooms address the park to celebrate the natural vistas and mature planting.

Designed to take advantage of its park-like setting, the architecture of Saint Mary’s balances the need to take advantage of natural light and lovely views with the need to create a sense of personal private space for the residents. In order to facilitate access for the residents, windows are kept lower to the floor than is usual in this type of building and balconies feature closed fronts to provide privacy. Public spaces are generous with expansive visual and resident access to the exterior.
